  • Police investigate report of shots fired

    Today neighbors reported hearing gunshots at 9th and Altamont Place just before 10pm. Neighbors called 911 after hearing what they thought were gunshots followed by two cars speeding off.Officers arrived and found bullet casings but no injuries or damage. Neighbors were not able to give them a description of any suspects or vehicles involved. The scene is now clear.

  • No sex offender grouping system in Idaho

    When Monte Hoisington, 64, came into the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office to register as a sex offender, he had his picture taken, his criminal history was recorded and he gave his address. At that point, he is entered into the Idaho sex offender registry and he is labeled as "compliant" for having registered. 

  • Reopening Spokane VA Emergency Room for 24-7 service at risk

    SPOKANE, Wash.--The Veterans Health Administration says getting the Spokane VA's Emergency Room back open 24-7 may not happen for a few more months.The Mann-Grandstaff VA cut its emergency room hours in half on December 1.The medical center says the ER is only open from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily because of staffing and recruiting issues.

  • People to People laying off about half of its Spokane workforce

    SPOKANE, Wash. - Sources confirm to KHQ's Dylan Wohlenhaus that the student travel company People To People, based in the Spokane west plains, is laying off around half of its workforce. The company currently is home to more than 100 employees. Last year, a public filing listed the company at 200 employees.
